Placement Exam Instructions FOR CSCI-551
To Qualify for a D-clearance for CSCI-551:
Students must first pass the Computer Science
Department's OS proficiency placement exam
and Electrical Engineering's EE-450 placement
exam.
The following students are excused from taking
the Computer Science Department's OS proficiency
placement exam:
Please note that you are allowed one
attempt for the OS proficiency exam, but
you may take the EE 450 exam twice before
being required to take the corresponding undergraduate
course (and receive a grade of B or better)
before you will be given permission to take
CSCI 551.
Placement Exam Instructions FOR CSCI-558
To qualify for a D-clearance for CSCI-558:
Students must first pass the Computer Science
Department's OS proficiency placement exam
and Electrical Engineering's EE-450 placement
exam

Placement Exam Instructions FOR CSCI-555
To Qualify for a D-clearance
for CSCI-555: Students must first pass the
Computer Science Department's OS proficiency
placement exam.
The following students
are excused from taking the Computer Science
Department's OS proficiency placement exam:
Please note that you are allowed one attempt for the OS proficiency exam.
Department Policies
Students may appear for Operating Systems (CSCI 402) Placement Exam only once.
After you register for Operating Systems (CSCI 402) Placement Exam, failure to attend the exam will be counted as failed exam.
All students interested in obtaining a Departmental
Clearance for class CSCI 530/551/555/558 may
submit a d-clearance request after passing the OS placement exam.
Placement Exam will have two sections: a programming section and a 402 section.
If Non-CS students do not pass the programming section must enroll in CSCI 455x.
If Non-CS students pass the programming section but do not pass the 402 section, they will be allowed to enroll in CSCI 402.
If Non-CS students pass the 402 section, CSCI 402 as a prerequisite can be waived.
